An excellent presentation from 2016 by Dr. Roger Mattson, who wrote “Stealing the Atom Bomb: How Denial and Deception Armed Israel”. I’ve included Dr. Mattson’s impressive biography at the end of this post.

This presentation was given at the National Press Club in Washington in 2016 in a conference organized by the American Educational Trust, publisher of the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs magazine, and the Institute for Research: Middle Eastern Policy, Inc.

The title of the conference was “Israel’s Influence: Good or Bad for America” and Dr. Mattson was part of a panel discussing Israel’s influence on Congress and government agencies.

Dr. Mattson’s bio:

He earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 1957. At Sandia National Laboratory he designed test reactors before joining AEC’s regulatory staff in Washington, DC, where he specialized in safety systems for power reactors. At the new NRC in 1975, he developed standards for environmental and radiation protection and safeguards for nuclear materials and facilities. At the time of the 1979 accident at Three Mile Island he was leading NRC’s technical review of nuclear power plants and took a significant role in the response to the accident and the reforms that followed. He later led two private companies that provided safety and security services for U.S. nuclear power plants, DOE’s nuclear facilities, and several foreign users of nuclear power. Mattson aided in international responses to the tragedies at Chernobyl and Fukushima and continues to consult on nuclear safety.
