“Would you like to see the weapons the army captured from ISIS fighters in Al Mayadeen?” we were asked. No hesitation, “Of course, yes!”
Got to the site and were all open mouthed, gaping at what we saw.
Tanks, a giant US made Howitzer, thousands of rifles, RPGs (rocket propelled grenade), makings for mortars and bombs, drones, pistols, ammunition. The terrorists’ weapons came from many countries including the US, Israel, eastern Europe, South America.
Speaking with the General there about fighting ISIS, one of the many Generals who lead from the front in Syria and who fights beside Al Nimr, “The Tiger”, he said something I will never forget. I had praised the Syrian Army for being the most experienced anti-terrorist army in the world. He said, “If the terrorists go to wage war in America or Europe we would go to fight them to save the people there. Not their evil leaders who supported the terrorists here but to help save the people, we would go.”
