Faces of a tragedy; the massacre at the Ekrema Elementary Schools, Homs, Syria happened on October 1, 2013.
52 children were killed and many more wounded. Teachers, school helpers and first responders were also killed or injured.
Two car bombs were planted to detonate as the children were leaving one of the schools, set a few minutes apart as usual so the second bomb would kill survivors and responders of the first. Those bombs killed 50. A suicide bomber hit the other school killing two. This slaughter was done by al Nusra, which is al Qaeda in Syria. While Nusra is a designated terrorist group still the US and our allies sent them weapons and fighters under the fake umbrella of the “Free Syrian Army”.
You’ve never heard of the Ekrema Schools attack? I’m not surprised. For over six years the people of Syria have suffered almost daily from terrorist attacks never mentioned in American or European media … because that would make people question the west’s illegal and immoral regime change war there. Syria is a sovereign nation where the children all lived in the 5th safest country in the world before the US and allies decided to destroy that safety by arming and training and supporting terrorist groups to rip it apart.
We met a mom and dad of two children killed that day, their precious little son and daughter. We went to their home where the parents have preserved their bedroom just as it was that terrible day. Thankfully they have had another child since, a little angel so full of life we all fell in love with her instantly.
But I’ll tell you something about the Syrian people. Just a few days after that horrific attack, the schools were reopened and brave parents took their brave children back to continue their education with the inspiringly brave staff.
I get so angry at the absolute hypocrisy, lies, and violence of the US government and its “foreign policy” of war, war and more war; as well as our fake “news” media that profits from it all. Every American, every human being, should.
After the attack, one of the schools collected shards of glass, burned papers and other items and used them to make beautiful works of art.
I don’t know what else to say 😔
